Check Out the Opera Don Pasquale Playing at the Bankhead Theater-There are English Subtitles!
I had the pleasure of attending the Family Night Dress Rehearsal of this Opera last night with my 6th grade son. The Livermore Valley Opera allows students and teachers to attend this event for free and their adult chaperones only pay a minimal ticket fee of $10. We had never attended an opera, me mostly because I know they are not in English, but since my son is in Choir and he received extra credit for going, it was free for him and a nominal fee for me, we decided to go.
We were pleasantly surprised that they had “subtitles” playing at the top of the curtain on stage. It made it much more accessible for the children and adults as well. Since I have never attended an opera, I called the Bankhead today to see if that is a normal thing or if they were doing it for the benefit of the students present; they said it is a normal thing there. So, if you are like me and have avoided operas in the past because they are in a foreign language, go check out this cute production of Don Pasquale at the Bankhead Theater. It runs for two weekend Saturdays and Sundays Starting September 30 through Oct 8th, 2017.
